Non-thermal effects of microwaves on protease-catalyzed esterification and transesterification

چکیده
The non-thermal effects of microwave irradiation on enzyme-catalyzed reactions have been evaluated by keeping the reaction temperature constant during irradiation. Subtilisin-catalyzed transesterification and a-chymotrypsin-catalyzed esterification have been carried out in six solvents of differing polarities and at three different temperatures. In all cases, microwave irradiation was found to increase the initial reaction rates by 2.1-4.7 times at all hydration levels. It is also shown that microwave irradiation can be used in conjunction with other strategies (like pH tuning and salt activation) for enhancing initial reaction rates.

Lipase Catalyzed Incorporation of Conjugated Linoleic Acid by Transesterification into Sunflower Oil Applying Immobilized Lipase (Lipozyme Thermomyces lanuginosus and Rhizomucor mehei)
Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA), Glycerol (G) and sunflower oil blends with varying concentration were subjected to enzymatic esterification using a 1, 3- specific immobilized lipase. CLA was used as acyl due to its purported health benefits. The transesterified lipids were evaluated for free fatty acids (FFA) and composition of fatty acids by gas chromatography. Lipozyme RM IM is preferred for ...

The enzymatic transesterification of several triand tetrasaccharides with vinyl laurate is described. The lipases from Candida antarctica B (Novozym 435) and Thermomyces lanuginosus (Lipozyme TL IM) and the alkaline protease from Bacillus licheniformis (subtilisin Carlsberg) have been used with each carbohydrate to obtain different regioisomers. By using the sugars in their amorphous form, comp...
متن کاملMethyl Ester Production from Schlichera Oleosa
Biodiesel is produced from vegetable oils (edible & non edibles) and animal fats. The methyl ester of vegetable oils, known as biodiesel are becoming increasingly popular because of their low environmental impact and potential as a green alternative fuel for diesel engine and they would not require significant modification of existing engine hardware. At present, biodiesel is commercially produ...
متن کاملEnhanced removal of Free Fatty Acid from waste oil for Biodiesel production
Introduction The possibility of using vegetable oils as fuel has been documented in the beginning of diesel engines. Biodiesel produced from waste oil by trans-esterification process can be used as a substitute for diesel in internal combustion engines [1]. Biodiesel can be produced by the transesterifcation of vegetable oils [2] such as soyabean oil, rapeseed oil, sunflower oil etc. [3]. Trans...
متن کاملEnzymatic Transesterification of Kraft Lignin with Long Acyl Chains in Ionic Liquids.
Valorization of lignin is essential for the economic viability of the biorefinery concept. For example, the enhancement of lignin hydrophobicity by chemical esterification is known to improve its miscibility in apolar polyolefin matrices, thereby helping the production of bio-based composites. To this end and due to its many reactive hydroxyl groups, lignin is a challenging macromolecular subst...
